Westchester Medical Cochlear Implant Center - ENT Faculty Practice - Westchester Institute for Human Development
Please join the audiologists of ENT Faculty Practice, The Cochlear Implant Center at WMC, and WIHD as we raise awareness and gather contributions for a cause we all hold close to our hearts. Our team will be participating in the walk and we encourage all patients and family members to join us! Share this page with friends and family to help fundraise. We hope to see you on Saturday May 11th!
Everyone knows you can accomplish so much more by working together and becoming part of something bigger than yourself. That’s why I’d like you to join my Walk4Hearing team. We are walking to help improve the lives of people with hearing loss and to raise awareness about the importance of taking charge of your hearing health.
There are 48 million Americans who have some degree of hearing loss – that’s 1 in 6 – and millions more who are at risk. While we may not be able to help all those people, we can make a difference right here in our own community. The funds we raise will go directly toward programs and services to support people with hearing loss both nationally and locally.
Walk day itself is a chance to meet others with hearing loss, their families and friends, learn, share stories and build friendships. It gives you an opportunity to see firsthand that no one is alone and we can live better with hearing loss. Most importantly, if you haven’t participated in the Walk4Hearing before I can make one promise to you about your experience at the Walk – it will be fun!
Hearing loss is permanent, there is no cure and it can’t be reversed. But it can be screened for and treated, and in many cases, prevented. In fact, if gone untreated, hearing loss can have a significant negative impact on quality of life. So I am issuing a challenge:
Take charge of your hearing health and get your hearing screened!
“Get Your Hearing Screened” is the call to action for this year’s Walk4Hearing. A hearing screening is painless, easy, and fast, but its benefits can last a lifetime. I am asking you to take charge of your own hearing health and encourage your friends and family members to do the same. In fact, I want you to let everyone know about it. Follow HLAA Walk4Hearing on Twitter @Walk4Hearing and Tweet using #screenURhearing to let people know that you got your hearing screened or encouraged someone else to. Don’t forget to “like” the Walk4Hearing Facebook page and even follow @hearinglossassociation on Instagram, be sure to utilize your social media network!
Please consider joining my Walk4Hearing team or supporting us by making a donation. Help us take the next step in improving the lives of people with hearing loss.
