The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) Walk4Hearing increases awareness about hearing loss, helps to eradicate the stigma associated with it and raises funds to provide information and support for people with hearing loss. We have been walking since 2006! This year, because of the CV-19, it will be a virtual walk in the interest of the health safety of our particpants. Whn I know how this will work, I can let you know so you can join us where ever you are.
We walk because hearing loss is a public health issue third in line after heart disease and arthritis.
Hearing loss affects one's ability to communicate every day in different situations - from a dinner conversation at a noisy restaurant, on the phone, to not hearing alarm clocks and smoke alarms. Many people wait up to seven years to test their hearing. That delay can cause major negative impacts on one's quality of life. For people with hearing loss, these situations can be become obstacles without the right information and support. We want to remind you to get your hearing tested! HLAA provides the assistance and resources for people with hearing loss and their families to learn how to adjust to living with hearing loss. Please join us and help our chapter to raise needed funds to be able to continue to help people with HL
