The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) Walk4Hearing increases awareness about hearing loss, helps to eradicate the stigma associated with it and raises funds to provide information and support for people with hearing loss. Since 2006, the Walk4Hearing has raised more than $12 million and has become the largest walk for hearing loss taking place in cities across the United States.
Money raised from the Walk goes back into our local community. It is used for issues such as supporting student scholarships for college, enhancing outreach efforts to underserved communities, raising public awareness, and helping to remove the stigma associated with hearing loss through education, information, support, and advocacy.
Furthermore, funds raised for Gallaudet's SAA chapter support SAA events for our students, community outreach in the DC area, and the annual Healing the Children trip - where student and clinician volunteers travel to Guatemala to provide healthcare to underserved children in the area.
