Welcome to Hi I Cue! Our team is based in Northern Virginia and contributes to the Northern Virginia Cued Speech Association. What is Cued Speech you ask? Cued speech was developed over 50yrs ago by Dr. R. Orin Cornett, and is focused on improving the literacy gap in the hard of hearing. Cueing is a mode of communication that allows users to have access to the basic fundamentals of spoken languages through the use of visual cues.
The Northern Virginia Cued Speech Association (NVCSA) is focused on advocacy, education, and support for families and professionals who choose to use Cued Speech w deaf or hard of hearing children. Our team is raising fund to support this initiative. One of the many events NVCSA hosts is Cue Camp Virginia. This event brings families from all around VA to participate in a weekend camp, focused on the different aspects of Cued Speech. Children are taught self advocacy and build confidence in themselves through the many activities they participate in over the weekend.
The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) Walk4Hearing increases awareness about hearing loss, helps to eradicate the stigma associated with it and raises funds to provide information and support for people with hearing loss. Since 2006, the Walk4Hearing has raised more than $12 million and has become the largest walk for hearing loss taking place in cities across the United States.
