It’s A Group Effort!
Hello to our Salt Lake City Hard of Hearing Tribe! Let's get together for the May 16th Walk4Hearing being held online with Zoom this year because so we can still support a good cause AND be socially acceptable. Sue Ordonez as the HLAA-SLC chapter president and me, Chelle, will be your Walk learders this year. We are looking forward to it. Look for more information from us soon.
We’re walking to raise awareness about the importance of hearing health and to help improve the lives of people living with hearing loss. No one should have to be on this journey alone.
48 million (or, 1 in 6) people in the United States are living with some level of hearing loss. In today’s noisy world, millions more are at risk. We may not be able to reverse hearing loss, but we can help make a difference. The funds we raise as a team support services and programs that benefit people with hearing loss both in our local community and nationally.
It is estimated that people who suspect they have hearing loss wait an average of seven years before seeking treatment. If left untreated, hearing loss can have a significant negative impact on your quality of life. That’s why it is so important to get your hearing screened! So, if you think you may have a hearing loss, I challenge you to take action.
In fact, tell everyone about it! Follow HLAA Walk4Hearing on Twitter @Walk4Hearing and tweet using #screenURhearing to let others know you got your hearing screened. Don’t forget to also “like” the Walk4Hearing Facebook page and follow @hearinglossassociation on Instagram. Let’s use our social networks and spread the word!
Whether you join my team, make a donation, or help raise awareness by sharing what you’ve learned, I appreciate your help as we work to improve the lives of people living with hearing loss!
