I was at my first Lunch and Learn in SW Florida with my brand new boss in a crowded restaurant room, full of seniors eager to have a free lunch, but needing to listen to a presentation about hearing first. My boss starts talking about hearing loss and from the back of the room, a woman's hand goes up and she screams, "Channel 4 saved my marriage!" My eyes got all big and I had no clue what was happening.
After the lunch, I found out that the woman who raised her hand had been to this same event a couple of months before and she was attending again with friends of hers who were interested in learning more as well. Turns out, this woman had been badgering her husband for YEARS to get hearing aids and finally she got him to this lunch, which turned into an appointment at our office, which turned into him buying hearing aids.
Upon getting home and plugging in the box to their TV which streamed into his hearing aids ... aka "Channel 4"... she realized that their house was quiet again. He listened to everything through his hearing aids ... Thursday night football, Saturday sports, Sunday football ... they were having dinner with full discussions, he was starting to join her again at social events and playing with their grandchildren.
There are so many stories that all of us from the industry have of people and families who's lives have changed because of hearing aids. This was my favorite and will stay with me forever. That's why I walk. And thank you for supporting me and my passion.
