Why do I walk? It's not just for exercise, it's for making a statement that hearing loss is an issue of national concern. This year, we are doing a nationwide Call to Action to get your hearing screened. We are educating people to focus on hearing health. Yes we all think about diabeties, cancer, heart disease, mental illness, and so much more but we never think about hearing health and even noise protection. This year, we had a hearing screening van at 9 walks to educate people to get their hearing checked. We are encouraging Team Captains, volunteers, walkers, National and local sponsors to bring their family, friends and co-workers to get their hearing checked. I remember as a kid in the early 60's, there were no hearing screening vans or newborn hearing screenings. Therefore my hearing loss was not discovered until the age of 3. Now, we can discover the hearing loss quicker and earlier and get the person fitted with hearing aids or cochlear implants. The options are out there and the days of stigma and isolation can certainly disappear if we face the matter. Thank you so much and hope you will sponsor Mitch, Chase and me. The PA Walk4Hearing is very important to my family. If you wish to pay by check, you can make check payable to PA Walk4Hearing and mail the check to me.
