Consider just some of the many ways HLAA’s New York City Chapter helps you and thousands of New Yorkers: By providing information to better understand hearing loss . . . By fostering personal interaction with friends and neighbors who have dealt with similar concerns and can offer encouragement and support . . . By advocating for and achieving meaningful changes that lead to improved accessibility . . . By hosting monthly meetings featuring experts in hearing healthcare, assistive technology, research, and our rights under the Americans With Disabilities Act.
Fact: Our annual Walk4Hearing makes it all possible. Although the NYC Chapter is run entirely by volunteers and has no paid office space, funds are needed for such essential program expenses as meeting hall rental, the hiring of captioners and ASL interpreters, internet fees, and printing and postage. The bulk of our budget is derived from the portion of Walk proceeds that our national organization returns to our chapter.
We receive no financial support from HLAA’s national office, beyond our share of Walk proceeds. Our monthly chapter meetings are free and open to all. Membership dues, for both the chapter and national organization, are just $45. And we don’t campaign for contributions throughout the year so that we have no fundraising or overhead expenses – 100 percent of our revenues are invested in services to the community and our members.
Alas, in this unique and challenging year, we will not be walking together out of public health concerns. Instead, we invite you to join our virtual Walk on Sunday morning, October 4. Please join our chapter team called Walk New York! and pledge or make your donation by clicking on the green "Join Team" tab above.
To have your contribution credited to a particular walker, you may click on that person’s name on the team roster.

You and your family and friends won’t be able to stroll in the park with us this fall. But please join Walk New York! to register your continued support for our work, and to celebrate our shared mission and accomplishments on Sunday morning, October 4.
