Walk New York! is the team of the New York City Chapter of HLAA. Please join or donate to help HLAA-NYC in its outreach and education programs in the metropolitan area. Money raised by the Walk New York! team accounts for more than 90 percent of our chapter’s operating revenue. It also supports the vitally important education and advocacy work done by our National office in Bethesda.
HLAA-NYC helps provide free hearing tests for seniors, it has been instrumental in getting hearing access into movie theaters and at Broadway theaters. It advises organizations like the New York Public Library and major museums on accommodations for people with hearing loss.
Our monthly meetings provide education and support, with guest speakers and spirited question and answer sessions. All are fully hearing accessible. Our advocacy group has achieved several notable successes in the past years, including a bill requiring all new City-funded building and renovation projects over $950,000 to include at least one hearing-looped meeting space.
Please help keep our work going by joining or donating today to Walk New York!
