OUR TEAM IS CONNOR'S BEACH BUDDIES and we'd like you to join our team, lace up your shoes, and have fun! The HLAA Walk4Hearing rallies communities across the country to create awareness about hearing health. Walk day is a chance for you to meet others with hearing loss, their families and supporters, learn from each other, and raise funds that go to national and local programs.

The Long Beach/Lakewood Chapter of HLAA uses our portion of the fundraising to provide captioning and hearing assistive technology at their monthly Chapter meetings, publish a monthly newsletter, and spread the word about hearing loss. Our chapter's mission is advocacy, education, and self-help. We hold monthly Hearing Assistive Technology demonstrations where the public can come and try out various devices to see if they can hear better in difficult situations. Hearing aids are not perfect; we're here to help you find what technology helps you. We also offer LipReading classes!
28 million people with hearing loss are in the workforce or in educational settings; more people under the age of 65 have hearing loss than those older than 65. Almost 3 out of every 1000 children have hearing loss - 15% of school-age children! Noise-induced hearing loss due to use personal listening devices (headphones, earbuds, etc.) is on the rise; 20% of 17-25-year-olds report some degree of hearing loss.
Hearing loss can be prevented, screened for, and treated. The HLAA Walk4Hearing brings people together in communities to create awareness about hearing loss.
Since 2006, the HLAA Walk4Hearing has raised more than $13 million and has become the largest walk for hearing health.
