Why I walk?
This simple question can be so hard to answer. Yet so easy as well.
I walk for my daughter. I walk for my friends. I walk for my daughter's friends. I walk for family. And I walk for myself!
What has walk4hearing.org done for me? For us? ALOT! Through walk4hearing.org walks we have not only made alot of wonderful new friends. We have made some vital connections with people who have helped us in one way or another. We have also met people whom we have helped maybe change their lives. Whether we're at the huge get together on walk day or we're gathering as a small team, when we walk we talk. We educate people. We educate ourselves and others. WE teach the world about our community. About us. About how wonderful it is to be hard of hearing or deaf (HOH/Deaf).
We as a team help raise money so that we can continue to grow in not only our knowledge but to help the world grow to understand us. The funds raised by our teams go to directly to help which ever organization the team has detonated. Our funds Team Jaycee is going to help a family in need go to summer camp this year. A newly diagnosed family or a family that maybe struggling to find help, connections, even just another family who is going thru what they are. Which as a mom who has been there I know how crucial it is. Team Jaycee has in the past walked and raised money for schools. For hoh/deaf programs. And even for hearing alert dogs.
There are so many different ways to help. However Their is no better way to help other then spreading the word! Getting out there and make connections and teach the world that it's ok to be different. Its ok to be unique. Its ok to be me.
why do I walk? I walk.....We walk for you!
