Some of you may know that my hearing loss started in my mid-30's, when I felt I was on the top of the world... I was suddenly dropped down to earth very quickly. I denied and bluffed for 6-7 years, just because I didn't know a soul around my same age who wore hearing aids. It was only when I learned about support groups for those with hearing loss, that I was finally able to start coping with the fact I had this disability. I credit the Hearing Loss Association of America with helping me accept all this and through this organization I've met many life-long friends.
Last year I was diagnosed with Stage 3 uterine cancer. Having a hearing loss while enduring cancer treatment ain't easy, but through everything I've learned from HLAA and the support of all my hearing loss friends, I'm getting through the treatment with a minimum of frustration! Plus I've already educated hospital personnel that hearing loss comes in all ages and types.
On June 9th, Danny and I will be participating in the 2018 Walk4Hearing to help bring awareness to the millions of people who have a hearing loss. We're walking for the Los Angeles chapter, the LA Stars.
We need your donations to make this event a success and help support the cause of hearing loss throughout Los Angeles and the rest of the nation. Every dollar raised goes towards helping those with hearing loss, through advocacy, education, and support. Any amount is appreciated; every little bit helps. You are more than welcome to join our team and attend the walk as well! (I can provide details)
We'll walk extra fast knowing you're supporting us in this worthy cause!
