The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) Walk4Hearing increases awareness about hearing loss, helps to eradicate the stigma associated with it and raises funds to provide information and support for people with hearing loss. Since 2006, the Walk4Hearing has raised more than $12 million and has become the largest walk for hearing loss taking place in cities across the United States.
We are walking for two very special little boys! My nephew Landon and my son Jacob. Landon is a happy energetic 8 year old who is currently sporting 2 Bruins colored hearing aids. Landon found out about his hearing loss when he was 5 years old due to failing the kindergarten hearing test. Landon has never let his hearing impairment stop him from doing anything his heart desires. He is an avid hockey player for the South Windsor Knights, playing defense and goalie. Landon hopes to be drafted by the Boston Bruins one day! My son Jacob is 2 months old. We found out right away about his hearing loss due to him being referred in his right ear with his newborn hearing test. After the audiology testing we were informed Jacob has moderate hearing loss in his right ear and so far so good with his left ear! Jacob will be sporting his new hearing aid in a month with the colors of his dad's favorite hockey team the New Jersey Devils! I am forever grateful that Jacob has his big cousin Landon to look up to and see that it's okay to wear hearing aids, that it doesn't stop you from doing anything you want to in life! Please consider donating to an amazing foundation, or join our team and walk with us!
