Thanks for visiting my page!! I’m very excited for this year’s Walk4Hearing taking place on Sunday, May 21st at the Walnut Hill Park, 184 West Main Street in New Britain, 9am registration and 10am walk. Please support us by donating to LISTLESS and allowing us to continue to inspire positive change in our community.
As parents of Matthew, our profoundly deaf son, Jim and I both know how important it is to support the many organizations in our community who help people with hearing loss. Many of you know that I lead the Hear Here Hartford Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) with the mission to empower preteens, teens, and young adults to overcome the everyday life challenges of hearing loss. We do this through our mentor program, educational programs, and inspirational speakers. The funds raised from this walk will help HLAA to support our Hartford Chapter and allow our organization to continue to provide high-quality programs as well as college scholarships.
Last year, we raised close to $75,000! All of these funds raised made a HUGE difference in our community. Our Hartford Chapter sponsored events throughout this past school year including our Transition Series helping preteens and teens to gain the transition skills needed to succeed in high school and after graduation. Our socials included an Adventure Room event. and a panel discussion about transition services for teens in school and at work. We also awarded 4 college scholarships at our March 30th Walk4Hearing kickoff event.
We are positively changing lives for people with hearing loss!!! Thank you so much for your support of our team, LISTLESS, and for helping us to reach our $80,000 goal this year!!
