Welcome! This is our third year participating in the walk, previously as team #walk4mase. We walk to bring awareness that hearing loss affects children, like Mase, and not just the aging population. We also walk so that Mase knows that he’s not alone, that he’s amazing, and that he will continue to thrive – just like the other walkers!
Mason, aka Mase, is an awesome 3-year-old who was born with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. Through early identification, Mase was able to receive his hearing aids at 7 weeks old and recieve early intervention services shortly after! Although his hearing aids help amplify sounds, they cannot “cure” or provide “normal” hearing.
He currently attends preschool at Summit Speech School (SSS) and LOVES it! The program includes activities in which regular preschoolers participate, with additional supports from a Teacher of the Deaf, speech pathologist, and assistive hearing technology. For more info on their program, check out their team’s page or the school’s site at http://www.summitspeech.org/auditoryoral.html.
We hope you consider being Mase's HEARo by walking with us, purchasing a t-shirt or hoodie (kids sizes, too!), and/or making a donation.
If you want to join us for the walk, click the green rectangle that displays “Join Team,” then “Register as a New Walker.” After completing your personal info, under “Additional Information” (question #2), select Summit Speech School as the local organization. This ensures that Mason’s school receives a portion of the funds you raise.
*You may be able to double your donation through your employer's matching gift program.
T-shirts and hoodies may be purchased by visiting:
Thank you, Michelle, Kristine's friend and fellow MAHS alum, for facilitating this.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email email@example.com. Thanks for visiting and for your support! We truly appreciate it!
